For SAA I got to plan and organize this annual event that we do every year! I didn't want it to be a "preachy" evening, but one of celebration and encouragement that included all of us! We started out the evening with a potluck dinner, yum! Then we showed the slide show of us! Everyone who wanted to was encouraged to send 2-3 photos of themselves and then answer the question "What do you do to make it work?" So Melanie our wonderful "historian" gathered all the pictures and comments and made a slide show (which you can find the link to on the side of my blog.) Such wonderful advice and cute pictures of many of our SAA members! Then we had 3 couples at different stages of their medical school journeys be on our panel to answer our questions (like we do every year.) This year the panel consisted of Dr. Brett and Alana DeGooyer (last year of residency), Erik and Lauren Schunerman (3rd year med student plus 1 year fellowship), and Mark and Melinda Brown (2nd year med student). They did an excellent job and gave great "hints" and advice for all of us! We also gave away fun prizes all evening long, (McDonald's was so generous to donate redbox codes for everyone, the movie theater donated a few "buy one get one" coupons, SAA purchased a $10 gift certificate to DQ and provided 2 lucky couples with the book, "Five Love Languages"! We had an amazingly huge turnout considering it was a Saturday night and the following week was finals! It just goes to show the caliber of the medical students and their significant others! I am just so impressed with everyone and how we each care so much about our spouses that we take time out of our busy lives to spend time together! I feel so blessed to be married to you Chris! You are an amazing husband, such a loving father, and we are so proud of you and all you are doing. Each of these Medical students are amazing individuals, I have even more respect for doctors and their families and what they go through and the incredible amount of information they have to learn and retain, it is truly remarkable and so amazing to see how much God blesses them on a daily basis! What an incredible journey it is , I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!
